I am a keen researcher before I purchase anything & I had look at many web- developers, but in the end I shortlisted Quantum Web (QW). The first person I spoke to was Steve Bebb about my “new baked” business Idea. I was blown away by Steve’s ability to understand & translate my ideas, into a viable ecommerce business; he volunteered sincere & priceless information without any pressure of any commitment from me, Steve’s listening skills convinced me that QW could deliver.

I now have got the website which I could only dream of “on cloud 9” before I commissioned QW to build it, and I am over the moon with the finished result. It is a credit to everyone at QW, they translated my own ideas by always paying attention to what I had envisioned, and I am impressed because I recognise that I am a demanding client.

Jessica Richards have been particularly professional keeping me well informed & instrumental in moving all matters forward rapidly after she took charge, which I’m grateful for. Jo Finch has been a superb trainer, especially as I am such a technophobe and don’t actually like technical stuffs, but her no-nonsense approached to “can’t do”, left me utterly astonished that after 2 hours of training I was managing my own website effortlessly, & partly credited to the excellent QW’s web- design solution, and not my intellect I’m afraid.

I like to show my appreciation to Drew Dinneen designer, by mentioning him last but by no means least, for having the patient and skills to listen & reproduce my ideas, transcending the visual impact I had hoped for so brilliantly. 

I can happily recommend QW, and unequivocally would use them again for future projects. The only criticism I have, would be the timescale for building the website, it could have been shorter; however I’m also mindful of being patient is a virtue, this is especially true for Quantum Web, the end result leap years ahead of my expectations.

When I approached Quantum, I was looking to build a website cost effectively while lacking nothing in design and usability. The admin team were always incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional in creating a tailored made package for what I was looking for in our new site.

They then passed me on to the designer, Colin Hancock, who worked with me on creating the new site. Colin was fantastic, as he was able to take my more than ambiguous design suggestions and transform them into a stunning and professional website. I was then able to comb over the smallest details with Colin who happily and quickly amended any suggestions I had. The whole team I worked with at Quantum were great, always quick to action any queries I had and very pleasant to work with.

Having spent some time planning and talking the matter over, my partner and I finally decided that we would go ahead and start a small ecommerce business which provides personalised pet accessories, gifts, jewellery, and so on, and we set about looking for a suitable site designer or builder to create our site. My major concerns were that the site must look professional, and be easy to use for both me behind-the-scenes, and for the customer. We contacted five different businesses who looked suitable, and after more research, for us, Quantum offered an excellent balance between cost and service. I was happy to pay a bit more in order to get a lot more, and of the five we approached, Quantum's nearest 'rival' were keen to tell us how much less they were charging, but equally, they couldn't provide half the excellent features that Quantum simply incorporate as part of their package. The key moment where I made my decision was during Quantum's demonstration of their site. They were willing to call me up, spend time showing me all the features and things it can do, and allowed me to keep a demo ID and password for a few days so I could play about with it in my own time to get the hang of it. That speaks for itself. Three of the other companies could not, or would not show me what my money would be buying - they would direct me to 'finished' sites where I could view what the customer saw, but I couldn't see the behind-the-scenes stuff, and for me, with a small start-up business and a modest budget, that was worrying. I also did my homework with respect to checking out some of the other sites that Quantum and their nearest rival had done (not the ones they recommended, but ones I found for myself) and this further supported my opinion that Quantum were offering a much better, more professional looking site.
 
From deciding to go ahead to seeing the site live and taking our first orders, the whole process took perhaps eight weeks. I described what I wanted, and gave examples of what I thought would look good. The designers sent me drafts of what could work, and together, we worked out the best feeling and format. Once I was happy, they got to building the site, adding including several extra features such as the currencies, the tabs in the product page, a box for customers to input their engraving text, and so on. Once that was done and the payment gateway was integrated, all that was left was for me to 'stock the shelves'.
 
The system itself is wonderfully easy to use. If you can write an email, and attach something to it, then you essentially have all the skills you need. The site self-optimises - in other words, it tries to get the best possible results in search engines, without you having to worry too much about doing site optimisation yourself. You can email your customers, add or delete new products within seconds, change round categories easily, create beautiful fading banners to match the season, update a whole range of prices at once, have it send you stock-level reminders, set it to hide products once they sell out, have it create a Google Base feed, set up site analytics, manage customer passwords if they forget them... and loads of other stuff besides. But mainly, Quantum have worked very hard at making this stuff simple, so that you need no website expertise yourself in order to use their system. As above, if you can write an email, and attach something to it, you're ready to go.
 
The ongoing-service is also excellent. Quantum don't stop being good to you once you've paid for the site. If you find a wrinkle, they are quick to iron it out, and keep you informed with every step in the procedure so that you know someone is working away making your site great. Perhaps unsurprisingly, once you get your site up and running, in the first few weeks, you quickly start to see where you can do things better and whenever I've called up to ask for a tweak (change the size of the thumb-nails, move the 'Add to Wishlist' button, incorporate a link here, add social networking buttons there,  etc. etc. etc.), the staff at Quantum have been quick, cheerful, personable, and helpful, and if they couldn't tell me right away, then they've been happy to call and email back with answers as soon as they can.
 
Lastly, I feel that the proof is very much in the pudding. Our site went live on August 12th, and we had it fully stocked with products, pictures, text, faders, and so forth about ten days later. (That bit takes longer than you might think so give yourself plenty of time!) After a final weekend of prep and polishing, we sat back and felt that if we got any sales in the first week or two, that would be a grand bonus, but we were prepared to wait a month or so for our site to start appearing in the search engine rankings. We actually started receiving orders the very next day - not bad for a less-than-two-week-old website! - and two months later, we have a steady stream of orders coming in, which are gradually increasing as our rankings in the search engines improve. Overall, my experience with Quantum has been excellent. I've come to know lots of team members (Jo, Gretchen, Erryn, Lisa) who are not only there at all sorts of hours, but who call and email back whenever you have a question or query. Quantum have exceeded my best hopes, and have not only provided me with a fantastic website, but with a steadily growing little business, and a firm sense of security that they'll always be right there to help me out if I need it.

From day one, Peter Bond (Design Integrator) has been involved in the process. It is fair to say, as a 3-D artist and metal sculptor, I didn't have much of an idea of what I was looking for from my website; computer graphics was a very alien world to me! With Peter, I explored a few colours and ideas, all of which we scrapped very early on. However, this was a very helpful process, as a complete rookie sometimes it helps to see 'take one,' as thereafter, it is so much easier to visualise the possibilities! Throughout, I have been firing emails to Peter in the evening, and consistently he has responded the next day and most importantly, been very efficient with follow through.

After our initial trials with design I decided to create my own logo, incorporating some metalwork, (that bit was easy for me to visualise!) Once in place, Stuart Bloodworth (Head of Design) came on board to look at the progress. Within a few days Stuart created a design that worked so well with my logo and products that weeks on, the only changes we have made relate to function and practical aspects, otherwise it is just as it was when he unveiled it: fantastic!

I opted for an e-commerce site with an add-on. For me, to finally realise a website, incorporating a Sculpture Gallery was an obvious step. Peter has built in the gallery, which I'm equally very pleased with. Actually now that it is all in place, it is hard to imagine something better; with Peter and Stuart's skills the site has a really nice balance between my more commercial ‘products' and 'high art'.

With the design in place I took a trip to Shrewsbury to work close hand with Peter and Erryn Deane (SEO Specialist). As a computer dinosaur, someone more used to being surrounded by students welding, hammering and operating machines, I was very much the learner in their hands! Landing in the Quantum hub was all very interesting! I made this journey shortly after Quantum had gone through a merger and expanded. On a 'one to one basis,' Quantum staff talked about working with change and growth very positively. In this busy and buzzy atmosphere I knuckled down for my first lessons in administration software! Not everyone is a natural teacher, but working with Erryn couldn't have been easier! I had warned him that I really was a complete beginner, but Erryn explained every step very carefully. Since then I have worked away at the process, with his guidance via email and phone and I reckon that I would have passed a few modules by now, were I on his computer course!

If you are reading this, contemplating a website and like me, are a real 'first timer,' let me say honestly, you will have a lot of work and decision making ahead of you. Once you have entered into that partnership initially, understanding the parameters, ‘what are my areas to learn?' is rather confusing. It all becomes so much clearer as you work through the process, and that's where Mike Harris (Account Manager), the last in my team line-up, was such a useful link in the chain. I have always been way out of my comfort zone with computers, so if I can do it, so can you!

I met Bernie Hurley (Quantum Chairman) on my visit to Shrewsbury, 'diamond geezer', is how I imagine he is frequently described! I hope this has been useful reading and will end by saying that with that the Quantum team, you will be in good hands!

I thought I should let you all know how extremely pleased we all are with the finished results of our new website.

Dealing with both trade and retail customers on a daily basis, I (Steve) felt it necessary to say that it has been a pleasure throughout dealing with true professionals.

From the initial contact made with Amy who managed the initial call, John and Mike who handled the design and finally Graham who took my questions and helped smooth out all the little problems (which I must say were very few and of my own design).

The training sessions were also a great help as I am a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to navigating my way around a computer.
